Ladies of the Grand Army of the Republic, Inc.
(Auxilary of the Grand Army of the Republic)
Organized April 6, 1866 by Benjamin F. Stephenson of Decatur, IL. The first convention
was held in Indianapolis, IN, 20 November 1866, yet Indiana currently has no department of
it's own. We are looking for qualified ladies to open an Indiana department as
charter members.
"All blood kin relatives, 10 years of age and over, of honorably discharged Union
soldiers, sailors and marines of the Civil War, 1861 - 1865, and ex-army nurses of that
war are eligible. 'Blood kin relatives' refers to and includes daughters,
granddaughters, great-grandaughters, etc., and nieces, grand-nieces, etc of the veterans
of the Civil War."
Please visit this site and consider joining us in a proud heritage of patriotism and to
honor our ancestors who served by preserving their standards.
