Jo,
The 1926 Directory of Henry County, IN does show one WOLLUMS, Roy H. and WOLLUMS,
Fred F. in the list of World War Veterans. I expect that you would find more
information in the U. S. Army military records, perhaps in the NARA archives. There
was no Wollum or Wollums in Dunreith, so he must have lived in Spiceland Township or
Henry Twp. Unfortunately, their names and addresses are not shown anywhere in the
rest of the directory, not that I can find in a page by page flipping of the whole
directory. Maybe some earlier directories will show their addresses?
The fact he was Quaker would not have caused him undue problems with his church.
Many Quakers did serve in the various wars, even though they were usually entitled
to claim conscientious objector status. I would suggest asking
Quaker-Roots(a)rootsweb.com if someone has a reference to Indiana Quaker ministers,
or asking Tom Hamm who lives in the Spiceland area if he might have a listing for
Wollam or Wollams.
Regards,
Tim Walls

Do you know if the Quaker community was large around 1920? My
g.grandfather
Roy Hiram Wollam apparently was a Quaker, possibly a minister, when he lived
in Indiana, and I'd like to find out more.

I have Bond and Bufkin ancestors who were Quakers and were listed as being
members of the Spiceland
MM (Monthly Meeting) which, if I remember correctly, was in New Castle,
Henry Co, maybe Dunreith Twp
