I have a folder of information on Henson Tolbert. He was born August 30,1809 in Scott
County, Kentucky. He died June 24, 1890 (as you know in Lawrence County) Bruner Cemetery.
He married Mary (Polly) Allegree December 28th,, 1831. She was born July 22, 1815 in
Kentucky and died December 9, 1881 (Bruner Cemetery). Henson's father Gassaway
Tolbert was as far back as I could go until I just saw he was born in Maryland. I am
going throughf all my files to see what matches with him, since his father was listed as
John. Henson had 9 children (plus some children by her sister, which showed up on a will
I have). His children are: John, B 1834, Elizabeth, b 1836, Mary A. b. 1839, Thomas B. B
Jan. 31, 1841, Shadrack (our line), B March 26, 1844, Emeline B. June 18, 1868, Samuel B
June 1850, Hannah E. B 1853 and Rose Z., B 1857. Shadrack (our line) married Albertine
Sink from North Carolina, she had been married before but her husband was killed in the
Civil War, they had 8 ch!
ildren, among them was George Franklin tolbert, who married Mary Jane Whidttington
7-3-1889. She died 5-5-1941. George Franklin Tolbert had 6 chldren, among them Mabel
Gertrude Tolbert born August 13, 1904, she married Stanley Bennett born September 7, 1902
and died June 15, 1964. They were married January 26, 1927. Mabel and Stanley Bennett
are my husband (Wilbur Bennett)'s parents. Feel free to e-mail me at
wbennett(a)smithville.net. I will be happy to share any information. I used to do a lot of
work on the geneology but I worked and I retired July 2005 and just recently pulled out my
records and started looking back into it. I need all information I can get on Gassaway
and his family. Thanks, Deeann Bennett
