My source regarding Amos in Indiana is from the Society of Indiana Pioneers. A Francis L.
Simler applied for membership in 1941 and traced his ancestors coming to Indiana in the
year 1808. It was examined, approved and accepted by the Board of Governors of the
Society of Indiana Pioneers on Nov. 14 1941. I have copies of this from the Society. You
can contact the Society of Indiana Pioneers regarding genealogical records of the Reagans
and get copies for a fee or I can send you a copy. Researching the Amos before Indiana is
tricky due to Ky, VA, Penn changing boundaries. I don't think the pioneers really had
much of an idea what state they were in due to constant changing of these boundaries. The
Reagans came down the Ohio River from Fredericks, VA or Anne Arundel, Maryland or Penn.
The Reagans appeared to have traveled back and forth between KY and IN. Because the Ohio
River borders these states, Hiram is sometimes listed as born in Ky and other times born
in IN. You !
might like to check the spelling, Ragan (Ira Reagan is mispelled on the 1900 Census and
it took me a forever to find them. This line of Reagan did spell their name Ragan.
Hope this helps some. Check website
gwwgen.com/mytree/zzg13.htm. I found some detailed
information regarding Ragans which matches a lot of my other information.
Thanks
Carole R
