The Filson Club is one of the premier Kentucky history and family research
facilities in the country. Many of us are or have been members and people
travel from across the country to research there. I have seen it promoted
on many rootsweb lists.
The Filson Club has decided to increase its rates, doubling them in some
cases. They are now charging non-members $10.00 a day for the use of their
research library and members a $5.00 dollar fee. They do have a $100.00
dollar a year rate that does not have to pay the fee.
The Director of the Filson Club will be at the Sept 25 meeting of the
Louisville Genealogical Society. He will speak at 12 noon to explain the
fees and to answer questions. It is requested that members and non-members
show up for this very special meeting.
The meetings are held at The LDS church on Hurstbourne lane in Louisville,
KY. It is a couple blocks North of the I-64 exit across Linn Station road
from the McDonalds.
Please do not start a discussion on this on the mail lists, but if you can
not show up please E-Mail your comments or support to mailto:lougensoc@yahoo.com
