Subject: INHARRIS .. BELL, David Williamson
Mary..Regarding your INHARRIS query...
I checked the 1850 census pages on
GenealogyLibrary.com and found only one
David Bell in Harrison Cty, IN, so it's probably him...David Bell, age 53;
Elizabeth, 56; Minerva, 21; Virginia,17; Charley, 16; Elias? Leslie, 31;
Charley (Leslie?), 13; Emily (Leslie?), 8; Illegible (Leslie), age 6.
David
was a farmer with land valued at $1000. He and his wife were born in
PA,
the others in Indiana, except for Elias? Leslie who was born in PA.
Also found a D.W. Bell, Heath Twp, in the 1840 Census Index. It shows to
be
on page 268 of the 1840 census.
The 1860 IN Census Index shows 2 david Bell's in Harrison Cty, Harrison
TWP...pages 177 and 271.
1870 Census Index is incomplete and starts with Marion Cty, but that's in
the process of being input on INHARRIS, so check it out in the future.
I have no personal information about this family, sorry to say.
I am searching for information on Benjamin Franklin Brown who came from
Virginia c.1849-1850 with his family and farmed land in Harrison Cty. He
donated a portion of his land for the Zoar United Brethren Church which he
and his family attended and I understand he and his wife, Matilda Hoffman
Brown, are buried there. Does anyone know if that church/cemetery is
still
active or where it is/was located? I'd sure like to check it out
when I
make a trip to Corydon in a few weeks. Thanks.
