100 years ago -- Among those granted marriage licenses were Henry H
Grant and Alice B. Cunningham.
C.E. Huff of Patoka Township was in English and had some stationery
printed.
Pleasant Hill - Selvy Cuzzort one of our bright little girls was at
English attending examination.

Bud Robinson and party will visit English and hold services at the court
house.
Beechwood - Otho Mock, of Leavenworth, was here looking for cattle.
Alton - Capt. Ed Holcroft entertained the following Dutch sympathizers
at St. Patrick wake a the bachelor quarters in the W.R. Holcroft and Son
Building. Richard Jenkins, A.G. Froman, Benjamin Yates, Bud McCraney
and P.R. Parr.
75 years ago -
Only a week after insurance had been allowed to elapse, the home of
Oliver Longest, farmer, two miles southwest of English, was with all its
contents destroyed by fire. A ddefective flue is blamed.
All customers of the English Water Works Company are to be supplied with
meter within three years, according to an order issued by Public Service
Commission of Indiana. Twenty five members have already been installed,
according to John H. Luckett, superintendent and manager of the water
company.
George W. ferguson has purchased the J.A. Whaley property near the
Milltown depot.
Several from Sulphur attended the sale at John Jobe's , near the Chapel.
