I am searching for information on John Dunlap and Sarah Applegate they were my ggg
grandparents.
In 1860, John and Kesiah (Dunlap) Hughes were living in MO, St. Clair Co, Polk Twp.
Living next door were her parents, John and Sarah Dunlap (they were also listed in 1850 in
Pike Co, IL at which time Kesiah was living with them).
They are living in St. Clair County, Missouri in the 1860 census. The Dunlap name was
misspelled to Dunlop in the 1860 census. Below is the information that is on the 1860
census.

Their oldest daughter Kisiah and her husband John H. Hughes are living next door.

Kissiah Hughes Polk, St Clair, MO 22 BirthYear(1860, '22'); 1837 Indiana Female
John and Kisiah are my gg grandparents. They died in Scott County, Arkansas. Their
daughter, my great grandmother, Martha Francis is buried in Hodgen, Oklahoma.
Below are the Dunlap's that are buried in St. Clair County, MO. Here is where I get
somewhat confused. Their son Samuel is buried here; however their is a Lucy Dunlap wife
of Samuel buried here. I would hope this is not his sister (Lucinda) that he married.

I have a photo of Samuel Applegate taken in the 1850's prior to his death in Illinois.
Would like to share information with you.
Samuel was born February 5, 1783 in Lee County, Virginia. He died in Pike County, IL on
September 12, 1870. Samuel was a Baptist Minister in IL. He married Sarah Stark in
1805 in Virginia. Sam and Sarah had eight children. Their daughter, Sarah married John
Dunlap and they had one daughter, Kisiah. Kisiah married John Hughes in 1855 in Pike
County, IL. Their daughter Martha Francis Hughes married Samuel Lafayette Doyle in
Oklahoma. Samuel would be my third great grandfather.
Hezekiah Applegate would be Martha Francis Hughes-Doyle's gg grandfather.
Martha's mother was Kisiah Dunlap daughter of Sarah Applegate and John Dunlap. For
those that are direct descendants of Samuel and Martha Francis Hughes-Doyle, you can join
the Daughter's of American Revolutionary War (DAR) using this information. If you
need help, let me know.
Thanks. Paula
