Mr. Alloway:
I subscribe to the InHancock list, so I got your email announcing Mr. Darrah's
program. I certainly wish it were possible for me to attend his talk; it sounds like his
subject is exactly what I need to know, to do my research in Hancock County, IN. Is there
an outline, or booklet, about his talk that I might purchase?
I am researching Wilson's in Hancock County, specifically Robert Wilson, Rev. War
soldier, b.1745 in Augusta County, VA, and died in 1849 in Hancock County, IN. I believe
this Robert is probably my 4th great grandfather. I have queried the Hancock County
Clerk, and there appear to be NO wills or probate material for Robert. I suspect he was
pretty destitute at the time of his death, probably living only on his Rev. War pension.
Thus, nothing to probate. So I've been racking my brain, trying to figure out how
else I might attack this "brick wall." Mr. Darrah's program seems
fortuitous, coming along at just this time. So I'd certainly like to have the benefit
of his expertise, if there is any way possible to obtain copies of his speech, or other of
his writings, on this topic as noted in your email.
I shall look forward to hearing from you (and/or from him, if you could forward my email
to him; or send me his email), and I'm ready to send a check for whatever the costs
are.
Thanks in advance for any aid you can provide.
