Hi,
I am looking for records on my gggrandfather Walton B. Womack. he
lived in Hancock county around 1836 to 1842. I have found a pension
application where he shows he married Rebecca Kerns in (Iowa) Aug 10,
1838 but since Iowa was not a state at that time and I can find no
records of him there, it is thought that the IA on the certificate
really meant Indiana not Iowa. I have tried the territorial census of
Iowa and what counties I can. Does anyone know if there are any records
of Handcock Co. that might go back to 1838?
Thanking you in advance.
Lenda McGuire
