Dear All,
I am a family historian researching the family of a man named Michael Black
(ca.1806-ca.1887), a tailor and Methodist minister from Co Sligo (Ireland) who moved to
Indiana in the 1850s. At least two of his sons settled in Greenfield, Hancock County, and
I expect some of their descendants continue living there today. I hope to establish
contact with descendants of that family and exchange information from them about
Michael's ancestors.
Is there a way to easily establish which of the people named Black in the Greenfield area
are descended from that man? I didn't want to annoy everyone of that surname with a
letter.
Two men whom I think were Michael's grandsons who lived in Greenfield were:
George BLACK, born 19 Jan 1901, died October 1973;
Thomas E. BLACK, born 19 Nov 1893, died April 1977.
The latter was definitely a son of Richard Alexander BLACK (1847/48-1900) and Ione BROWN.
Richard Alexander was a son of the above-mentioned Michael BLACK (ca.1806-ca.1887).
Would anyone there know how to contact their descendants, regardless of whether they are
named Black or not?
All constructive suggestions are welcome.
Best regards,
Lex Johnson.
