Virgene,
This suggestion will be a little counterintuitive because it sort of means
people might have migrated slightly east after moving west. But for what its worth,
for BRASHEARS and REDDICK, I suggest looking in Orange and Lawrence Counties Indiana
circa 1820-1830. Before that, Brashears can definitely be found in Breckinridge Co
KY, circa 1790-1830. Before that, some Brashears and most of the rest of the world
were in SW Pennsylvania circa 1780-1790. Good luck.

My g-grandmother, Mary Jane Kennedy Underwood HENDRICKS, was the
step-
mother of James N. UNDERWOOD and John M. UNDERWOOD, both enlisted in Civil
War. I have sent for Civil War pension papers for James N. who survived the
war. Does anyone on this list have any knowledge of where James is buried.
He is
last shown on the 1870 census living in Buck Crk Twp., Hancock Co IN with
wife Margret (nee Dickson) and their children, Mary F. age 5 and Margaret
age
3, along with Nannie Dickson age 6, Nora RULA (Ruly/Ruley?) age 11/12 and
Charles RULA age 11, Mary SMITH age 58. Is Mary SMITH the mother of
Margaret DICKSON???
I would also like to know the maiden name of the mother of John and James
UNDERWOOD'S biological mother, Mary *Ann*, who died before 1847...I have
read
from someone's GEDCOM that a John UNDERWOOD, from Harrison Co KY, b. 1805
mar. Mary Ann ADAMS. This birthdate and place of residence fits the Hancock
Co IN John UNDERWOOD, but there was no document to support this and I have
not been successful in my search for one
I *think* Margaret DICKSON is the former wife of Christopher RULEY who
was first married to Eliza Ann KENNEDY, sister of MaryJane
KENNEDY...Christopher RULEY is documented as having had three wives, the
first being Eliza Ann Kennedy, sister to Mary Jane Kennedy Underwood
HENDRICKS, second, Margaret DICKSON and third, Eliza Ann KING (or DAY?).
A few dwellings away from James N. UNDERWOOD are my g-grandparents,
Frederick
and Mary Jane Kennedy Underwood HENDRICKS, with their second families, which
includes my grandmother, Emma Rachel HENDRICKS who married Benjamin Johnson
DAVIS, son of Nathan. My DAVIS ancestors were from Lancaster Co., PA.
Is there anyone on this list...or elsewhere...who has any knowledge of the
above families, or are researching them? RULEY, SMITH, HENDRICKS, KENNEDY,
DICKSON, KING, DAVIS
Also, in my ancestry, in and around Hamilton, Clinton and Madison counties,
PRYOR, BRASHEARS, GALLOWAY, BOYER, REDDICK
Any and all info appreciated
