Researching Tuttle Thomas Conant,Lived in Sugar Creek TWP, lived in area of Tuttle
School,Swamp School, Tuttle helped in organizing The Andersons Homeguard, a group of
volunteers who guarded the local area, they were called into service during the Civil War
for Morgan's Raid, but saw no action and returned back home, Rumer is they had trouble
with a group called Knights of the Round Circle which were a group of Rebels that banded
together to fight on their own or something like that they were not part of a organized
Government Group,But it was never proven that they were in Greenfield area. Tuttle and the
Anderson family came to Sugarcreek around the early 1850's ,from Cincinnati Ohio,
Thomas Tuttle was said to have built the first Steam Run saw Mill in
Greenfield Indiana Tuttle and Andersons started a petition to build a rode that would lead
to the Michigan state road by way of the Brookville road,or something like that,It was
said to have been called the Tuttle Road for a long time, Have not been able to confirm
that though. Tuttle was a prominent figure in Sugar Creek,The Governor was said to meet
with Thomas many times for advice concerning the Local Home Guards. I would love to hear
from anyone who knows about any of this, I am just writing this off the top of my head
