Hi My name is Gerald K Tuttle Jr, My GGGreat Grandpa and my GGreat Grandpa
are from Hancock county Indiana, I have corresponded with the Granddaughter
of Tuttle Orchard, A few years back to see if we connected,We never did get
together enough info to see if we connected as she was going to a Christian
College and was heading out at that time back to school, The names Roy and
Arnold look familiar,I am not for sure,But I would love to have a copy of
the picture in hopes when I find out if we are connected. My GGGreat Grand
Pa was from Sugar Creek Township, In Hancock County and is buried in Vernon
somewhere, I have to go back and see where ? I can except attachments of
pictures with no problem, I would love to make a trip to Hancock but never
will make it, I am disabled with a Spinal Chord injury and do not travel
well. I have a pain pump implanted in my stomach that has leads that go to
my spine and pump heavy narcotics to the spinal chord, I don't get out to
much because of that, I fall asleep at the drop of a hat, I get on the
computer and in 5 minutes wake up with my face in the key board, LOL, so I
don't go to many places, I walk with fore arm crutches and use a wheel chair
or electric cart when out in the real world, which is not often. Thank You
for posting about the picture,That is very kind of you. Bye 4 now.
Jerry

Subject: [INHANCOC] Tuttle orchard and school boy picture
Hello, Hoosier descendants,
I returned last week from a family gathering in Hancock County. You Tuttle
people may be interested to hear about the Tuttle orchard in Vernon
Township. It is a lovely orchard that has been there for a long time.
Mostly apples. Some families go and pay to pick fruit. There is a little
store with lovely fresh fruit. They have apple cider snow cones that are
super good. If you come to the area, don't miss the snow cones.
A big thrill of my trip was acquiring a picture of my father, Paul Shore,
with some other school boys in Vernon Township. The photo was taken at the
school, although you can't see much of the school in the photo. Daddy was
born in 1898, and he is maybe 8 or 10 years old in the picture, so that
gives you an idea of when the picture was taken. On the back is written:
"School house where Ray went to school. Dick Hartman bought and made a
home of it. Raymond and Virginia Royney bought it. Ray Lain, John
Whitaker, Arnold Tuttle, Rufus Humfleet, Paul Shore, Roy Tuttle, Forrest
Lane, Chester Humfleet."
I am very happy, because it is the first picture that I have ever had of
my father as a little boy. If anyone here has a relation in the photo and
wants a copy of it, I will share.
I wonder if there exists a picture of the girls in the school, too. Anyone
have one?
Jean
