Subject: [INHANCOC] TUTTLE
Researching Tuttle Thomas Conant,Lived in Sugar Creek TWP, lived in
area
of Tuttle School,Swamp School, Tuttle helped in organizing The Andersons
Homeguard, a group of volunteers who guarded the local area, they were
called into service during the Civil War for Morgan's Raid, but saw no
action and returned back home, Rumer is they had trouble with a group
called Knights of the Round Circle which were a group of Rebels that
banded together to fight on their own or something like that they were
not part of a organized Government Group,But it was never proven that they
were in Greenfield area. Tuttle and the Anderson family came to Sugarcreek
around the early 1850's ,from Cincinnati Ohio, Thomas Tuttle was said to
have built the first Steam Run saw Mill in
Greenfield Indiana Tuttle and Andersons started a petition to build a rode
that would lead to the Michigan state road by way of the Brookville
road,or something like that,It was said to have been called the Tuttle
Road for a long time, Have not been able to confirm that though. Tuttle
was a prominent figure in Sugar Creek,The Governor was said to meet with
Thomas many times for advice concerning the Local Home Guards. I would
love to hear from anyone who knows about any of this, I am just writing
this off the top of my head from things I have seen and heard. Bye 4 now,I
also just wanted to post on our new site address. Bye 4 now.Thomas Conant
Tuttle was my GGGreat Grandpa
