Subject: Major Thomas Conant Tuttle
Hi, A while back I posted a query on Thomas Conant Tuttle, Somebody sent me some info from
a book on Major Thomas Conant Tuttle ,My computer crashed and I lost the information, I

Team of runaway oxen ran him over on his farm ,he married Elizabeth Francis Anderson,

Mill in Indiana, He first worked as a First Mate and Master Carpenter aboard the Steam
Boats He was aboard the Steam Boat "The Charter" when it caught a fire In abt
1846 on The Mississippi River, he was said to have saved many Lives, After his River boat

Elizabeth Francis Anderson had 8 Children

Thomas Conant Tuttle was said to be a Major in a Local Organized Volunteer group of men
"The Home Guard" , they were called to duty in the Morgan Raid but never saw any
action they were called back home, Somewhere are the details of this excursion of Maj
Thomas Conant Tuttle and the Home Guard being called out, Also there is a little info on
"The Knights of the Round Circle" , which were a group of men who banded
together under the south's Army, In a sketch on Thomas Conant Tuttle it says that they
had trouble with this group, but from what I saw it was never proven. Thomas C Tuttle son
of Thomas and Elizabeth was enlisted in the Union Under The 15th Indiana Light Artillery
Battery, This was my GGreat Grandfather, I do have a picture of Thomas Conant Tuttle and
one of William Henry Harrison Tuttle also one of The Tuttle brothers, one of which is the
father of Alva Tuttle who wrote the Famous Tuttle Book "Tuttle Tuthill Line's In
America" I was also given, by a Cousin Tim Tu!
ttle Sports Writer, A Compilation of Letters written To Thomas Conant and his brothers
from his Mother "Hannah Jane Elder" These letters date back to abt 1844, But I
am looking for the info on The Home Guard in which Thomas Conant Tuttle was Major of. Any
info would be greatly appreciated. Hope to hear from a few people.
