Hi!
I've been a subscriber to the Arthur mailing list for some time, but so far
no luck on my search for my Indiana ancestors. So I thought I'd try this
list too. Hope someone can help me out.
I'm looking for any additional info or connections to the following lines:
Thomas Arthur, b.c. 1827 Ohio, married 19 Feb 1849 in Hancock county Indiana
to Jane McGahey, b.c. 1834 Indiana
Their children: Rachel E. (b.c.1850), James A. (b.c.1852), Nancy M.
(b.c.1854), Martha J. (b.c.1856), William Isaac (b. July 1858), Mary (b.June
1860), Frances (b.c.1861), John (b.c.1865), Samuel (b.c.1866), Cora
(b.c.1870), Ella (b.c.1874).
William Isaac Arthur, b. July 1858 Indiana (probably Hancock county, Sugar
Creek Township), married c. 1879 Indiana to Jennie D. Long, b. October 1857
Indiana
Their children: Ora Edward (b.Oct 1880), Della Mae (b.April 1882), Harry
Manford (b.June 1884), Ezra Morton (b. 8 Nov 1885), William Jasper (b.Dec
1887), Hazel Alice (b.June 1890), Andy Benson (b.Mar 1892), Goldie Winnette
(b.Apr 1896), Gilbert Ray & Delbert Fay (b.May 1899).
I believe Jane McGahey was the daughter of Andrew McGahey & Elizabeth Manan
(both born Kentucky, married 1 Jan 1829 Franklin county Indiana) - I don't
have any proof of this, just a hunch. Children I know Andrew & Elizabeth
did have are:
Mary (b.c.1840) Sarah A. (b.c.1842), Margaret (b.1844), Andrew S. (b.1846).
I believe Della Mae Arthur married a Scott and had Sophia K., Florise
Madella, John Arthur, & Essie Alice.
Harry Manford Arthur married Maude ???, and had Charles M. and Cora E.
Hazel Alice Arthur married a Niles and had Arthur, Ralph, Alice, and
Florise.
I am descended from Ezra Morton Arthur. I also have an old photo that says
"Erv's (my grandfather) cousin Gertrude Niles". Looks like it was taken
around the 1920's. My grandfather Ervin Arthur, son of Ezra, was born 1907
in Tipton Indiana.
I know that's a lot of info and a lot of different lines, but I just can't
make myself work just one line at a time!
Any help or clues anyone has will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Jill Arthur Barry
