Hi, List and Sharon,
For those of you who do not live close enough to Greenfield to
view Deed records in person, the Family History Library (Morman
Church) has Hancock County deed books A - 5 on microfilm. These
microfilms can be ordered through and viewed at your local Family
History Center (to find one near you, see
http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/FHC/frameset_fhc.asp).
The Family History Library Catalog entry for Hancock County Deeds
can be viewed at the web address
http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/fhlc/supermainframeset.asp?displa...
You can copy and paste this into your Location field in your
browser.
If this link doesn't work, goto
http://www.familysearch.org/,
click on the "Library" tab at the top, and then click on Family
History Library Catalog. There you can do a Place Search by
clicking on the "Place Search" button. Then, in the Place field,
enter Hancock and in the Part of field, enter Indiana. Click
"Search." Then click on the Indiana, Hancock link. You will then
get a list of all the categories of records that the Family
History Library has for Hancock county, Indiana. It is quite
extensive. For Deed records, goto Land and Property and click on
it. Then you will see a list including the item Deed records,
1827-1887. Goto this link, and then goto View Film Notes. Find
the microfilms you are looking for and goto your nearest Family
History Center and order them (by number). The cost of rental is
$3.50 per microfilm for 30 days with the option of renewal.
Good luck, and hope this helps.

Hi, Sharon,
Welcome to the list!
Have you tried deed records in trying to locate the name of
Zachary Taylor Dorman's wife? I have found a wealth of
information in deed records that I would never have expected to
be there.
Good luck with your search,
