[INHANCOC] surnames: ARTHUR, MCGAHEY, LONG, MANAN
by Kevin & Jill Barry & Family
Hi! There is a lot of info here, so for clarity, I'll split it on different
postings.
This is the general stuff.
In Hancock county I'm researching the following line(s):
Thomas ARTHUR b. Ohio c.1827, married Hancock county 19 Feb 1849 to
Jane MCGAHEY. Jane b. Indiana c. 1834. Thomas & Jane resided New
Palestine.
Have yet to prove: Jane was daughter of Andrew MCGAHEY and Elizabeth MANAN,
both born Kentucky, married 1 Jan 1829 Franklin county Indiana. Resided New
Palestine.
I am descended from Thomas & Jane's son William Isaac ARTHUR, b. Indiana
July 1858, m. Jennie D. LONG c. 1880. William & Jennie resided in Sugar
Creek Township. In later years, possibly resided in Gem, Indiana.
William & Jennie's son Ezra Morton ARTHUR was my g-grandfather. I have much
info on his line that I would be willing to share.
I would greatly appreciate any further info I can get on any of Ezra's
siblings lines, or any of William Isaac's siblings lines. Also any info on
Andrew MCGAHEY'S daughters' lines, and/or confirmation of my hunch as to
Jane's parentage. (Andrew & Elizabeth's sons all died young, so the MCGAHEY
name did not continue with this line).
Also, if there are any distant cousins out there, I would love to hear from
you! Thanks : )
