The Bloomfield News, Bloomfield, Greene Co., IN, Friday, August 6, 1897,
Volume XXI, Number 36, Page 1, Column 6, "Another Pioneer Gone, William
Hudson, Aged Ninety-three, Dead." Another Pioneer is dead. After an
illness of five weeks, William Hudson, the oldest and well known citizen
of Jackson township, this county, died of old age. He was born in
Kentucky, Mar.1, 1804. Died at the home of his son, George Hudson, one
mile southeast of Hobbieville, July 30, 1897. Interment in the Dishman
Cemetery, Jackson township, Saturday, Jul 31. Funeral service were from
the residence, conducted by Rev. Enoch H. Floyd. The deceased was a
member of the Bethel Christian Church. Mr.Hudson had been the resident of
Greene county over seventy years and had always followed the occupation
of farming. His wife has been dead for several years. They raised a
family of twelve children, but only four survive the father --- three
sons, George, Jerry, and John H., and one daughter, Mrs.Sarah Ann Hardin,
of Monroe county.
