Thanks.
Yes, I am looking for information on this Tobias Long who married Fannie Frick. They had
several children. She died and he remarried to Elizabeth Pennington. He is the son of
Israel Long and Rachel Jackson. I still have not found Fannie Frick's parents. I have
the bio that was written about Tobias Long. I have more information on Tobias and some
descendents. Would like to correspond with other researchers.
I have been researching Fanny Frick on and off for a while. I estimate that she married
Tobias by at least 1808 due to the birthdate of their first child. The marriage bond
didn't have the date. Archibald Carmichael was thier bondsman. It had been assumed by
other researchers that this was the Archibald Carmichael of Stokes Co who married
Elizabeth Nix.
However, I am not to sure of that. I believe Fanny had a sister named Mary Frick who
married Archibald Carmickle (both versions of the name were used by the Carmichael
families in old records) in Stokes Co on 21 Sep 1803. Thier bondsman was Reuben Long.
I believe him to be the brother of Tobias Long as he did have a brother by that name. The
Longs were living in the area of Stokes and Surry Co. They orginally moved from Rowan Co
NC. I believe this Archibald Carmickle/Carmichael was the same man who was bondsman for
Tobias Long and Fanny Frick. This Archibald Carmichael apparently had a sister named Nancy
who married William Westmoreland.
Their father may be Roderick Carmichael who was of Halifax Co. VA. which is the same area
Archibald Carmichael who married Elizabeth Nix was from originally before moving to Stokes
Co.
I believe these two Frick girls are somehow connected to the Fricks of Rowan Co, Rudolf
and Veronica Frick's descendents maybe? I can't seem to quite fit them in the
families though, but there are a few unaccounted for children. I know there were some
missing girls. I estimate that Fanny was born about 1787-1791 and Mary was born about 1785
or earlier.
(based on the bio) Fanny was susposedly of German Hessian descent and was a from a family
who came from PA sometime around the Revolutionary War or after it. However, I have no
proof of that.
The only other reference I have found so far of Fricks in either Surry or Stokes Co. was
in a marriage bond in Surry Co of Henry D. Frick who was part of the Fricks of Rowan Co. I
could not find any Fricks listed as Head of Household in the 1790 1800 or 1810 census for
those counties.
Israel Longs family were Quakers. The bio implied that Fannie was the Quaker, but it is
not accurate. Tobias was disowned in 1808 which I think he was disowned because he
married Fannie Frick who was not a Quaker.
Long, 1789 April 6: Israel & family (sons: Reuben & Tobias) recrq. Henshaw
Vol 5, North Carolina Quaker Records
1796, 8, 1. Ann disowned for joining Methodist.
1799, 9, 2. Martha of Belows Creek disowned
1808, 5, 3. Tobias, of Blues Creek, disowned
1812, June 7. Israel and wife gct Westfield MM (Westfield, Ohio?)
1794, 6,7. Rachel gct Westfield MM
Does any one have any information on the Longs and the Fricks that might help me with
figuring out Fannie's family or have info on the Longs they would like to share?
Thanks
Kathy
