I'm not related but thought I'd offer some suggestions for you. If you're
following a land record, you need to check into not just estate (probate/wills) to follow
the chain of title to the land but also real estate tax and payment records, exemptions
claimed, liens against the real property, and transfer of title orders by the court (in
probate/estate cases). In Indiana, deeds are recorded in the county recorder's office
and touch the county's auditor, treasurer, and, in case of estate cases, clerk
offices.You need to check with all 4 offices for records involving real estate. Hope this
information helps.
