Message Board Post:
Hi, my great-great grandparents, John and Susan Adams, moved to the Stockton Township in
Greene County, Indiana in the 1860s from Iowa. They apparently became quite prosperous,
with a large estate NE of Linton where they operated a coal mine and a cider mill as well
as crop farming. I understand they donated the land to establish Linton (Fairview)
cemetery as well as land to establish the Linton-Stockton School corporation.
I have most all of the vital information on their family, but I don't have any history
of their or their descendants' lives, eg., how did they or their descendants lose the
farm, why were they not buried in the cemetery for which they donated the land, etc.? I
am hoping someone here might have that information.
