I forgot to mention we also have BEAN in our line from VA. They, too, ended up in OHIO, in
DELEWARE CO.
I noticed the name LAY in your list and thought I give you some information oh what I
learned.
I did a search for a man I work with. His last name is LOOY. He gave me enough info
to get back to Germany, where the name was still LAY. I don't remember the given name
of the first to come here, but I know they lived for a while in LANCASTER CO. PA, where
most of the newly arrived Germans settled, at least for a while. I believe he or his son
of the same name moved to AUGUSTA CO. VA ca 1750. This place has changed boundaries
several times, starting:
change to HAMPSHIRE CO. VA 1753 (took on more land, large extention).
Change to HARDY CO. VA 1785, ( took possession of part of HAMPSHIRE CO.
After Virginia, at least the next generation moved to N.C., county name forgotten.
I noticed some of the folks from there moved to PEBLE? CO. OH (spelling), some moved on to
Tenn and KY. I believe I even saw some LOY/LOI/LAY/etc in early 1800 in ST.CLAIR,
ILLINOIS.
The family I followed ended up in Indiana around 1900.
They still go by the name LOY.
Hope this helps someone out there
