My great great great grandfather, MARTIN LUTHER CARR was to have lived in GREENE CO.,
which I assumed was in Ohio, as he and most of his family had moved there around 1808.
I know he moved to ELKHART CO.IN that became KOSIUSCO CO at a later date, in Prairie
township, with his 2nd wife
Martha, Margaret, nobody knows her name for sure. She was mentioned in his will WHEN HE
DIED in 1844, but the copy wasn't illegble enough to make out her name, just the M.
Martin was buried in Clunnettee Cemetary
Now I see so many old familiar names, I'm glad I followed my hunch to GREENE CO
IN.
Martin was born 1772 in HAMPSHIRE CO. VA to Henry CARR &
Sarah PETERSON. He married Elizabeth DAVIS in 1792 HARDY CO., she being the daughter of
the infamous JOHN DAVIS of PENDLETON /ROCKINGHAM CO.s
Liz & Martin and all there kids moved to FAYETTE CO. OH, around 1808. I just
remember some the kids names:
PHEOBE, married Jacob LAWYER,and moved to KOSCIUSCO IN.;
Elizabeth, married Joel Eli WOOD, moved to KOSCIUSCO IN and then on to JASPER CO. IA.
Solomon who married _______ and moved to Chalmer, WHITE CO. IN,
Jacob, married, and moved to
ELKHART IN, wife died, married again and in 1850 moved to
CROOKED CREEK TOWNSHIP, JASPER CO. ILL, and later moved on
to IA or KS.
Reuben married Mary CREAMER of Jeffersonville by Sugar Creek, FAYETTE 1830. Between 1850
and 1860 they moved to
CROOKED CREEK TOWNSHIP, JASPER CO. IL where they raised their family and where he died
1870, Mary in 1875.
Both buried in ATEN CEMETARY.
John Davis married Mary _________? and ended up in TIPPOCANOE CO. IN where he died
around 1880's.
I know he had more kids, but I haven't kept up on them.
HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEONE
