I am the granddaughter of Alonzo L. Cooper and daughter Clarence Ray "Jack"
Cooper. I know very little but here is what I have. Alonzo Lee Cooper (born 1888)
married Martha Evans (born 1893) both of TN (Campbell County-Anthras, TN?) Married
10-08-1908. Two children: Everett Ora (born 1909/1910) and Agnes Camille (married Virgil
Melvin Belcher, her death 1-27-2000). Alonzo and Martha w/children moved to Linton,
Greene County, IN between 1920 census and 1930. During that time period Martha died and
Alonzo was re-married. Alonzo married Bertie Marie Davis (born 4-4-05). They had 3
children. Betty Lou (born 10-3-1925), Monzdella Lee (born 10-9-1923), and Clarence Ray
(born 9-7-1929, death 1-11-2008; cancer). The three younger children were put up for
adoption after Alonzo's death in 1930. My father said they were taken to an orphanage
in Columbus, In. Betty Lou was adopted by a doctor who lived in what is now Camp
Atterbury. Clarence was adopted by a family named Sim!
ons. However, he and his brother, Monzdella (Bud) were returned to their mother.
Monzdella joined the military and Clarence lived with her until her death 9-7-1945. Unsure
of what Clarence did after that as he would have only been 16. He remembered being told
to avoid Old Mrs. Cooper. I'm unsure what happen among the family where as no one took
the three young children in but the Great Depression would have been going on during the
time of Alonzo's death. I only wish I could have found the information you posted
before his death. He always wondered what happened to his family. Thank you for helping
me continue the search. With great appreciate, Dawn
