Thomas Mull Vaught died at his home June 29, 1912 of total paralysis. About nine years
ago
he was stricken and since he has had several strokes of more or less severity but on June
21
he received the stroke from which he never recovered. From the time he received the last
stroke until his death not a drop of water or medicine did he take. He never recovered
consciousness. The deceased was borne in Nichlos county, Kentucky, May 25, 1837,
aged seventy-five years, one month and one day. He was the oldest of a family of six
children,
and as his parents died when he was young the hardships of life fell heavily on him. On
January 11, 1859, he was married to Mary E. Taylor, and to union three children were
born,
all of whom died while young. He has lived in this county since 1859. In January 1864 his
wife died leaving two small children. He was married again in January 1865 to Lucinda E.
Moss, and to this union eight children were born, of whom all but one survive him. The
children are Joseph and Isaac Vaughn and Mrs. Irvin Moats, of Terre Haute; Chas. and
Samuel Vaughn and Mrs. G. D. Beckwith, of Linton, and Mrs. geo. Tally, of Matoon, ILL.
He accepted the Christian faith in boyhood and united with a church in Kentucky. Several
years later he united with the Summerville Christian church and after his long years of
affliction he has led a life he thought worthy for often he has said "I am ready to
go when
my Father calls me." Funeral services were held at the house Friday 1 p.m. conducted
by
Rev. D. Hanna, of Worthington. Interment at Fairview cemetery, Linton.
