as to the spelling of Hardesty and Hardisty - most records in greene county are for the
spelling of Hardesty - - the only branch the Hardisty spelling has been retained on even
down to day is Aquilla's son Richard -
Aquilla had children only by first to wives - 'Caty' Catehrine Meek and Elizabeth
Murphy.
Eunice Meek - as far as I know has not been tied into any one such as Catherine - Eunice
meek is of my step-daughters lines - there are no birth dates for her or marriage date
she Married Benedict Dunfee abt 1796 he was b. abt 1766 and d. before 1840 benedict is
beleived to be a brother of Michael, John, Thomas Dunfee. He apparently served in the
militia during the Indian conflicts of the late 1700's. The Hill's 'History of
Coshocton county' states one of its early settlers, Benedict Dunfee, was an Indian
Ranger of the U.S. Service at Wheeling, Virgnia before coming to Jackson township in the
1820's. This is confirmed by his 1825 and 1830 purchase of Federal lands set aside for
those with military service. Benedict and Eunice moved to Ohio about 1798.
Their daughter Eunice Dunfee b. 1822 d. 1885 married Joah or Joeph Richards on 30 Mar 1837
cohsocton county Ohio
