Hi Francis and all,

I am searching for information about William King b. abt. 1811 in
N.C.
and wife, Mary McWilliam Breedlove b. abt. 1815 in Va. and their
family. They were listed in the 1860 Census of Greene County in Beech
Creek Township. I know of one daughther, Elizabeth Breedlove King b. 29
Jul 1836 in Brown Co., Ind. who married Milton Abrams on 17 Feb 1857 at
Smithville, Monroe, Ind. Milton was a son of Elias Abrams and Elizabeth
Scarborough. Is there anyone on the list who knows any of the other
children of William and Mary King or possibly where this couple came
from prior to arriving in Indiana? Thank you.
Below is what I wrote to another researcher, where we were talking about the
Burch Cemetery located in Center Township of Greene County. Based on
origins of my PAYNE and BRANDON families (and others), *I suspect* William
KING was from the Surry-Stokes Co.'s NC area. An excerpt from another
message: "FYI, a highly regarded researcher of VA-NC at the time (1980's)
said she found it was common for families to move from Halifax Co. VA into
Stokes and Surry Co.'s NC." Surry and Stokes Counties, NC are on the border
with the state of Virginia, so adjacent counties of Virginia (c1800) might
provide a lead as well.
Copy of info I sent to another researcher:
As to the King's, I have James Marshall King b. 26 Mar 1836, d. 14 Apr 1891,
who married Quintella Payne-Watson on _?_ June 1871, as having three sons
from his prior marriage to Rebecca Jane ADAMS King (Rebecca died 20 Nov
1862.) These three sons were William C. King b. 27 Nov 1857, d. 24 Apr
1887; George King b. 10 Feb 1860, d. 25 Aug 1937; and Frank Lesley King b.
10 Feb 1862, d. 28 Jan 1923. (That's all I have.) So, this should explain
these King's in Burch Cemetery.
Francis, maybe this will provide a lead.
