Hi all,
Since there were several people interested
in the school records in Greene Co., I thought
I'd post it here for everyone.
As far as anyone knows, the school records
that were held by the County Superintendent
are still in the office occupied by him. There
are a few other places to check for school
records as well.
1. The State Board of Education--Copies of
all school records were supposed to be sent
to the State office at the end of each school
year.
2. Township Trustee-- They may have some
school records, or know where they are.
3. For schools that were consolidated,
check with the consolidated school. Example:
Lyons & Marco became L & M. Then, L & M,
Switz City and Worthington-Jefferson consolidated
and became WRV. WRV may have copies of
all the schools' records that were in it's district.
(Please note that the Lyons school burnt and
lost many records, if not all. Other schools also
suffered fires at different times.)
This is a new area of searching for me. I did obtain
copies of a census or survey from the Co. Super's
office, about a year or so ago, which dated around
1920 +/-, for my grt-grandparents' children. (Holtsclaw
& Starnes)
As I get more info, if that's possible, I'll post it here
for everyone.
