I picked these up for a friend when I was doing some research last night at the library.
The names relate to the HOKE family that lived in the Newark area of Greene Co., IN. Hope
they can help someone else as well. They all came out of the obits books put out by the
Historical Society, several editions are there, but these are the older ones. They all
came out of the publication BLOOMFIELD DEMOCRAT.
Dec. 21, 1888 - Newark
John L. HOKE of KS is here visiting his parents and friends.
William WOODSMALL of Vigo Co. is here visting friends.
March 2, 1888 - Beech Creek
Webb PRYOR don't care if Sam HOKE did get that wood - as it is a girl this time.
30 Nov. 1888 - Newark

Vincent HOKE is the happy father of an eight pound boy - Mother and Babe doing well and
Vincent may recover.
14 Mar 1890 - Newark
McDONALD and HOKE, propreitiors of the farmers store shipped over 1,000 dozens of eggs in
one week.
21 Feb 1890 - Newark
Sam HOKE smiles immensely now as it weighs eight pounds and is a democrat, but will never
vote it as a female. Mother and babe doing well.
I have some on the Hoke family as my Sarah VANDEVENTER was married to James HOKE. And
I was also related to Irvin PRYOR through his first wife, Clara Belle BOWEN, Irvin was
editior of the WORTHINGTON TIMES newspaper for several years.
