An earlier posting listed all the Flinn's (Flynn's) listed in the 1880 Greene
County Indiana census (THANKS a million for that information by the way!!! It was a great
addition to the list!).
One name I didn't see is that of Squire Flinn, whom I believe was Josiah Flinn's
son. Indiana marriage records indicate a Squire Flinn married a Rebecca Padgett in 1844.
Squire isn't listed in the 1880 census for Greene County though, and I'm curious
to know if anyone has traced his whereabouts from 1844 on. Is it possible that the Squire
and Rebecca Flinn who were living in Fulton County Arkansas, South Fork Township in 1880
are these same individuals? Here's the information the census record gives on this
household:
Roll T9-45
Stamped Page Number: 14A
Line 44 Flin, Squire W M 55 Farmer born in NC, father born in NC,
mother born in NC
Line 45 Flin, Rebecca W F 63 Keeping House born in NC, father born in
Ireland, mother born in NC
A Squire Flinn had applied for, and been granted, 160 acres in Fulton County in 1873 (see
http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/search/ResultsList.ASP?index=1&qryid=70... )
I believe Squire and Rebecca were still living in Greene County in 1850 and 1860 -- the
following excerpts are from the AIS census index for those two years.
1850 - Greene Co., IN (Center Township) Flynn, Squire -- page 280
1860 - Greene Co., IN (Richland Township) Flynn, Squire -- page 709
I haven't been able to locate this Squire Flinn in any 1870 census index. There is a
Squire Flynn in Dallas County, Iowa, but I believe that is the Squire Flynn mentioned in
the post "Greene County Holman's" (September 25, 2000), since he is also
listed in the 1860 Iowa census.
I would greatly appreciate ANY information on Squire and Rebecca, especially names and
birthdates of any children anyone has record of, where the two may have been in 1870, if
the couple living in Arkansas in 1880 is the same couple, and what became of them after
1880 (not asking for much, am I!!!).
Thanks
Cara Flinn
