Dear Betty & List,
It is said that "Uncle" Jack drew partly on a still earlier History of
Greene County that was serialized in the White River Valley Times (the
first one) Is any of this work extant? If so, where? Weren't there any
scrapbook keepers in Greene County? Is this history available in the
Indiana Newspaper archives in Indianapolis, or perhaps, at Vincennes
University?
An early Indiana state atlas (ca1875-1878) lists some early settlers in
each county, the copy in the Vigo County Library is missing a page that
covers one of the counties I wanted to consult. (I've wanted to satisfy my
curiosity on this over thirty years now.) A reprint left out the county
sketches to save money!! Anybody know where there is another copy of the
original? Thanks for reading, maybe I gave somebody a lead.
