Phyllis,
[I needed to take a break and do a little research.]
ROSTER SOLDIERS AND PATRIOTS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION BURIED IN
INDIANA
Volume II, Compiled by Mrs. Roscoe C. O'Byrne, Brookville, Indiana;
Published by Indiana Daughters of the American Revolution, 1966.
p. 86;
RECTOR, JESSE - Lawrence County
Born - December 26, 1759, Fauquier Co., Vir.
Service - Drafted, 1780, Fauquier Co., Vir., Militia.
Proof - Pens. R. 8639, Vir. Served only 3 mos., 10 days. Pens.
appl., 1833, age 73, Shawswick Twp., Lawrence Co., Ind.
From Waters' Sup., p. 84. [I don't know if Waters'
Supplement would
contain additional information or not. I don't have a copy of
the
supplement. It's possible that the Monroe County Library and/or the
Indiana University Library may have a copy. I feel certain that the
Genealogy Division, Indiana State Library, would have a copy. Mrs.
Waters did a lot of her research there.]
HISTORY OF GREENE COUNTY INDIANA 1885-1989; Greene County Historical
Society
p. 151, Jesse Rector, 1759-1843, born in Rectortown, Virginia, died in
Bedford, Indiana. Jesse served under Captain Dudley, Virginia Troops,
at the siege of Yorktown and the surrender of Cornwallis.
p. 367, biography of Jesse Rector; a lot of information, including
"-- Jesse is buried in Lawrence County, Indiana--"
[You may have this information now.]
You might try the DAR in Lawrence and Greene Counties. [I don't know
if there is a chapter there or not.]
You might try the American Legion, VFW, etc., in Lawrence and Greene
Counties. They often have a roster of all military persons, they know
of, buried in the county.
You might also try the DAR Library searchable database. It is located
at:
http://dar.library.net/
I hope some of this will help. I know you've been looking for
sometime now.
Sam
