Continuing from Presbyterian missionary Isaac Reed's l826 journal:
April l4th Spent the morning at Mr. Dayhoff's, partly writing in my
journal,
then rode five miles toNine Mile Prairie. This settlement has six
families--
visited two, and catechized one of them. Preached at night; very good
attendance and still attention. April l5th returned to Scaffold
Prairie--visited
two families, and preached at night. This is a very needy missionary
tract.

The Dayhoffs hosted Minister Reed, his wife Elinor Young Reed and their
baby for several days while he traveled about Fairplay, etc. Then the
Reeds
started to Terre Haute but because of wet and wind had to return to
Dayhoff's.
There he rested and read from Josephus's History of the Wars of the Jews.
They did make it to Terre Haute. The Reeds lived at Gosport, Owen County.
