I may be wrong on this, but I am under the impression that this Hunter Mill
was established by some Hunter brothers who came late to Greene County and
were of no connection to the original John Hunter family descendants.
What do you think ?
Dave Chandler
Dave:
The Hunter Brothers who established the Shingle Mill in Highland Township
were sons of Daniel Washington Hunter, a son of John Hunter and Ann Andrews.
Daniel was on older brother of the Andrew Hunter who married Sidney Stalcup
in Greene County, Indiana.
Steve Stalcup
Hi ! Steve;
I was thinking that the Hunter Grist and saw mill at Marco Villiage, (in
Stafford Twp.) built about 1874 by William and Frank Hunter was the same one
that exploded in 1876. Seems to me I read somewhere that these two brothers
arrived from England shortly before 1874.
Is the Shingle mill you talk of in Highland and the Grist and saw mill in
Stafford all one of the same ?
