Joseph COMBS, of Center Township, passed away at 1 o’clock a.m. last Saturday. Mr. COMBS
had been abed for a number of months with a complication of Bright’s disease and dropsy.
His remains were on Sunday last, interred in the COMBS Cemetery about three miles west of
Cincinnati. Mr. COMBS was past 59 years of age and leaves a wife and six children of
which three are unmarried. He was born in North Carolina, and when young came to Indiana.
He first settled in Monroe County, but soon after having married, he moved to Greene
County and has since lived in this county. Mr. COMBS was a thriving and energetic farmer,
a thorough business man and a man of strong mind and political sentiment. He had been
prominent in the affairs of this county and had taken an active part in politics. He
leaves a host of friends and relatives to mourn his death, to all of whom the DEMOCRAT
