Dear George,
If you have not already done so, it would be a good idea to ask the Greene
Co. courthouse to check their deed index for Dayhoffs (I have found the
courthouse people very helpful and friendly in my efforts at
research-by-correspondence). Elias Dayhoff was a witness to the will of my
ancestor's brother Enos Huey (July 21, 1849), and there is the end of a
deed between William Y. Dayhoff and Frederick Dayhoff (which seems to be
something to do with "goods and chattels"--that might be interesting!),
dated July 25, 1842, on the top of one of my Huey deeds. (Going by the
1830 and 1840 censuses, which you can see online, the Dayhoffs and the
Hueys lived in the same general area).
Best wishes,
Martha Grenzeback
