Hi Randi, My gr gr gr grandfather Thomas Barker Jr. was married to a
Mary
Bough. It was his 2nd marriage. Mary was born about 1821 in Kentucky. and
dies 11/15/1903 in Shelby Co. ILL. Mary was the daughter of Frederick Bough
(b. abt 1792 in Maryland) and Rebecca Sexton (abt 1803, Virginia).
Frederick was the son of Frederick Bough (abt 1770). Rebecca was the
daughter ofWilliam Sexton, son of Benjamin Sexton Sr. Many of Thomas and
Mary Bough Barker's descendants lived in the Shelbyville, Ill area. much
of this info was from
Ancestry.com and family history. The Barkers were
long time residents of Greene county. IN Thomas and Mary moved to Shelby
Co. about 1870. Hope some of this can help you. Paula
Paula,
Thanks so much. Your information was, in fact, a big help. I have heard
that John A. Bough was the son of Fred and Rebecca (Sexton) Bough so that
would make your Mary the brother of my John, at least in theory. Because
you were kind enough to provide an exact date and place of death, I will
try to locate an obit in Shelby County that might provide a clue about
John's whereabouts (or existence) in 1903.
In working backwards one generation at a time, I'm still trying to prove
that Henry Bough is one and the same as Noah Bough and that he is the son
of John A. Bough. John appears to be a real traveling man.
