SATURDAY—Well-Known Bloomfield Restaurant Operator Is Buried Monday Afternoon.”

John Edward SACHS, well known throughout the county as “Sailor Jack”, died suddenly last
Friday evening at his home here in Bloomfield.
Mr. SACHS had not been feeling well and complained of having a headache Friday afternoon.
While enroute home Friday afternoon he suffered a stroke and lost control of his car. The
car was stopped when it hit a utility pole at the corner of Seminary and Mechanic Streets.
He was then taken to his home where he died about 8:00 p.m.
Mr. SACHS had been in business in Bloomfield for the past fourteen years and was well
liked by all who knew him.
He was born October 1894 in Martinsville, the son of Edward and Mary (MARTIN) SACHS. He
is survived by the wife, Bonnie (DENNIS) SACHS; the father, one son, Dennis Maurice SACHS
of Indianapolis and two sisters, Mrs. Leo SHEEHE of Dugger and Mrs. Lillian HOLMES of
Linton.
Funeral services were conducted at the Lester Jenkins and Sons chapel in Bloomfield Monday
afternoon at 2 o’clock with burial in the Odd Fellows Cemetery at Bicknell.
