Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Ann (FERGUSON) BYERS, seventy-eight years old, who died
Friday at Bedford, were held at 2 o’clock Sunday from the Bloomfield Christian Church.
The services were conducted by the Rev. Ronald L. SECRIST, pastor of the Mitchell
Christian Church, former pastor here, and the Rev. Paul W. BOYER, present pastor. Burial
took place here in Grandview Cemetery. A daughter of Joseph and Sarah FITZPATRICK, she
was born March 13, 1859, in the eastern part of this county, near the village of
Hobbieville.
Many years ago she removed to Bloomfield and this continued to be her home till seven
years ago. She was one of eleven children born to her parents and only one survives. She
is Mrs. Alice NOEL, of Bloomfield. Mrs. BYERS was married three times. When a young
woman she married Joseph BYERS, who died about a year after their marriage, leaving a son,
John A. BYERS, now living in Linton.
Later she married Lovell FERGUSON, a Civil war veteran, who died twenty-two years ago. By
that marriage there are three surviving children, Mrs. Oscar PETERSON, of Attica; Quince
FERGUSON, of Bloomfield, and Oscar FERGUSON, of Greenfield. Fifteen grandchildren and
three great-grandchildren also survive. On November 6, 1930, she married John W. BYERS,
who survives. Since the third marriage she and her husband have lived near Springville.
She had been a member of the Christian Church for sixty years.
