Mrs. Charles DAVIS died early Wednesday morning following a heart attack. She had been in
declining health for many months.
The deceased had a large circle of friends and in youth was Miss Lillian HENNON, daughter
of James HENNON, of Owensburg. Her mother died about forty years ago. The mother’s
maiden name was Miss Eliza BORDER, and she lived near Scotland. Mrs. DAVIS was born at
Owensburg, September 8, 1871, and was therefore aged sixty years.
The deceased had been in ill health for over five years, and during the past four years
she had been in declining health of heart trouble. She accompanied her husband to
Owensburg Tuesday afternoon, where she enjoyed a last visit with her father and other
relatives and friends.
Upon returning home she appeared to be in about her usual condition, but about 2 a. m. the
doctor was summoned and administered an opiate but it die no good and she passed away
about 5 a.m. Wednesday.
The deceased and Mr. DAVIS were married at Owensburg October 6, 1888. No children were
born to this union, but they reared two of her nieces, Miss Velma FIELDS, now Mrs. Thedus
BUCK, of Vincennes, and Miss Nola FIELDS, now Mrs. John HENSLEY, of Lafayette. They are
both here for the funeral.
Mr. and Mrs. DAVIS lived a number of years at Jasonville and resided from 1917 at Ilene,
IN Washington Township, until about five years ago when the moved to Bloomfield.
Besides the husband and her father, she is survived by one sister, Mrs. Aletha FIELDS, of
Owensburg.
