Charles Benton (Bent) GEORGE answered the last summons Saturday at 11:20 p.m. at the home
in Oolitic. Death followed an illness of several months due to complications.
Mr. GEORGE was born near Owensburg, but for many years had been a resident of Oolitic and
was well known throughout the county. He was the son of Joseph Newton and Caroline
(TERRELL) GEORGE and was born August 10, 1875, making his age at the time of death
fifty-six years, two months and seven days. He was united in marriage in Martin County in
1897 to Miss Bessie INMAN, who survives him. Other relatives left to mourn their loss are
one daughter, Mrs. Carl MOORE; two sons, Charles and Glenn GEORGE, of Oolitic; six
grandchildren, three brothers, Alsop GEORGE, of Needmore; Winfred GEORGE, of East Oolitic,
and Ellsworth GEORGE, of Oolitic; three half-brothers, Ora, Joseph and Benton{name not
clear} GEORGE, of Bedford; four half-sisters, Mrs. David YOUNG, of Oolitic; Mrs. Fred
POLLEY, Mrs. Robert PATTERSON and Mrs. Oren PATTERSON, of Bedford, and step-mother, Mrs.
Albert PATTON.
He was a member of the Baptist church at Oolitic and also of the Modern Woodmen.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the Oolitic Baptist church, with the Rev.
SANDERS in charge. Burial in Greene Hill Cemetery.—Bedford Mail.
