Bill, How wonderful to hear from you. I have been researching Ellexsons since 1977. My
mother gave me the bug, she began family research in 1942. She passed away in 2002.
Briefly my husband's line is Jerry Ellexson b. 1951 (IN)...Floyd Wilson Ellexson (KS)
b. 1917...Leonard Boone Ellexson b. 1881(IL)...Willis B Ellexson (your ancestor
Ezekiel's brother)...b. 1841 (IN)...Ezekiel R Ellexon b. 1811 NC)...Jeremiah Ellexson
b. 1770. I have documented lineage to Jeremiah...He remains an enigma.
The Indian Ancestry is myth and fanciful stories from the Ellexson families having such
close ties to Indian Territory, Jeremiah & Lewis Ellexson (your Ezekiel's
brothers) were in Kansas/Oklahoma before 1870. I have maternal lines on all of the above
and there are no Indians. Willis/Ezekiel's mother was Elizabeth Rogers, d/o Lewis
& Martha Rogers, Jeremiah's wife (Ezekiel b. 1811 mom) was Winneyford Gilstrap d/o
Peter Gilstrap & Mary Bright.
The one oral history passed on to me by Treva Agnes Ellexson Burks that I do place a fair
amount of stock in is that the Ellexsons descend from Pocahontas. In genealogy you almost
always to set out to disprove stories to come to the facts. I have yet to disprove an
oral history that Treva shared...Treva b. 1904 d. 1978.
