Jenny,
Your email is very welcome. There is some mystery about the Ellexson side of the family.
I have my information in Family Origins 8 but I'm a novice and don't know how to
export it. I'll tell you what I have.
Viola Gladys Ellexson was my grandmother. She was born in Sedan KS on 14 Sep 1881. She
married Charles Henry Day in Tacoma WA on 26 Dec 1899. I never met her or Charles Henry
Day. She died at the Fort Stillicum State Mental Institute on 22 June 1954 after a stay
of many years. I believe she suffered from schizophrenia and depression.
They had four children; Mae Elizabeth, b 1901, d 1971, Bernard Oswald, b 1903, d ?,
William Walter (my father) b 25 May 1909 in Tacoma WA., d 1971 and Charles Henry II b
1916, d ?.
Unfortunately, my family has never been very close. I don’t recall meeting Charles Henry
II or Oswald and know little about them. I do remember Mae in Tacoma. I recently made
contact with Mae’s son, Mike after about 50 years – thanks for the internet. I’m sure he
can provide more info for that side of the family.
The mystery is that Day family lore holds that we have some American Indian blood in us.
I have traced Days and others back to England. That leaves Ellexsons. Do you know if any
Ellexsons married American Indians? It’s not really important since much of the family
lore is not correct.
If you are interested, I can get more info on my Ellexson aunts and uncles form my cousin.
I should do that anyway.
Two other people have contacted me with Ellexson info. If you would like, I will contact
them to see if it is OK for me to give their email addresses out.
For info, I was born in 1939 – old. I live in Brentwood, CA – 60+/- miles NE of San
Francisco.
I have quite a bit more info, but this is running a little long so I’ll save it for later
if you are interested.
Regards,
Bill Day
