1905,Volume XXIX, Number 29, Page 1, Column 2, “Moses Crockett Dead.”
[Transcribed August 27, 2004 from microfilm of the original newspaper on
file in the Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library.]
Moses CROCKETT died at the home of his son, Daniel W. CROCKETT, in
Indianapolis,
one day last week and was buried in Kansas by the side of his
wife, who died a few years ago. The deceased was a progressive farmer and
lived in Center Township, west of Solsberry, for many years. He was a
county commissioner from 1880 to 1886 and during this period was associated
on the board with R. T. MCKEE and John MILLER, JR. During their term of
office Greene County began its advancement and under their administration
the present court house was erected, several good bridges were built and
many improvements were started that have resulted in the great prosperity of
today. Mr. CROCKETT was born July 15, 1830 in Owen County. He was married
to Margaret M. JOHNSON January 2, 1851, and to this union six children were
born.
