Saundra,
I don't see a connection so far between your Carr's and mine but I'd bet there
is one if we went far enough back. Mine are from Lawrence and Greene counties too.
I'll tell you what I've got so far. It's only verified so far back though.
I've gotten several generations off of the internet but haven't been able to
verify it so far. My grandfather was Wadsworth Carr born 15 Dec 1880 in Greene county.
He married Mae Spears of Hannibal MO. His father was Francis Marion Carr born 30 Dec 1842
in Lawrence County. He was married twice, first to Rebecca Dona(spelling?), then to Mary
Ann Wollam (my line). He married both in Greene county. His father was Jeremiah Carr
born 20 Nov 1823 in Greene county. He married Keziah Hatfield in Greene County. I just
recently found an obit for her on line from the Bloomfield News in Greene county. I have
about 3 more generations back from Jeremiah but haven't been able to confirm it.
Supposedly Jeremiah's father was a Thomas Greer Carr !
from Franklin county PA. He was born 23 May 1787. He married Catherine Wilson in Knox
county Indiana. They had five children. One of whom was a George Washington Carr. Maybe
your George came from that line. His birthdate was 20 Sep 1814. Supposedly, Thomas Greer
Carr's father was a Michael Kerr (notice spelling change) from PA born about 1750.
And his father was William Carr born abt 1725 in Thenlancaster, PA. That's as far
back as I have. Like I said, I'm kind of iffy on the info after Jeremiah. I bet your
Carr's and mine are cousins way far back or something. I visited Green County last
year on the way back to Ohio from Texas but it was a Sunday evening and so I looked at a
few cemetaries but couldn't do much else. The carr's you contacted there were
prob. related too just really far back. It's too coincidental. If you come up with
anything else, I'd appreciate it if you'd pass it on and I'll do the same.
Thanks for you info. I'm going to keep it just in c!
ase we connect them somewhere down the line.
