THE BLOOMFIELD NEWS, Bloomfield, Greene County, Indiana, Friday, February 23, 1894,Volume
XVIII, Number 12, Page 1, Column 3, “CORRESPONDENCE! Exchange of Neighborhood News, Notes.
Popcorn.” [Transcribed February 25, 2004 from microfilm of the original newspaper on file
in the Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library.]
Aunt Gula WILSON, wife of Dillard WILSON, of Popcorn, died Monday night February 12, 1894
in her 73rd year. To this union were born fourteen children, two of whom have preceded
her to the better world. She leaves seven sons, five daughters and a host of friends to
mourn her loss. She had been a faithful member of the Christian church for about forty
years, and has always lived a faithful Christian life. Her illness was of short duration,
being sick only a few weeks. The afflicted brothers and sisters have the heartfelt
sympathy of all who knew them in this severe stoke. In life, exemplary; in disposition,
generous, bearing the confidence of all, she lived for many years to grace the Christian
profession. She has gone to meet the loved ones that await her on the golden shore, where
there is no parting. Her end was the triumph of peace and assurance, and she died as she
lived, in peace both with God and man. May we seek to imitate her brilliant Christian
life, and liv!
e so that when the summons comes to us we will be prepared to meet “on the happy gold
shore, where the faithful part no more. Interment in the Lowder Cemetery, February 11.
