Thanks for the reply. You are correct in that I've seen this name spelled
all three ways. Here's my take and its open for suggestions. And I believe
David M. Stucky born 1836 is the son of David born 1796
Angeline McRoberts married Samuel Park H Dover on 1/22/1857. Samuel died in
the civil war on 7/30/1862.

I then found Samuels' Pension Record

Samuel P. H. Dover, 13th Independent Batery IN Light Artillery
Wife Angeline Dover
Minor David Stucky
Widow Application 10/29/1862
Minor Application 4/11/1866
That led me to the marriage of David M. Stuckey and Angeline on 3/15/1866.
Since Angeline was married at the time of the minor application. I assumed
she and Samuel had one son named David who took the Stuckey name.
Next I found

Greene County, Indiana
DOVER, SAMUEL H. 444, 535
A Guardianship Bond Document dated March 19, 1867 states that David M. Stucky
and Bartholomew Ellensworth are bound in the sum of Two Hundred Dollars and
that David M. Stucky will faithfully discharge the duties of trust as
guardian of Mary A. Dover, minor heir of Samuel H. Dover.
Another Guardianship Bond Document dated April 28, 1869 states that Angeline
Stucky and David Stucky are bound in the sum of One Thousand Dollars and that
Angeline Stucky will faithfully discharge the duties of trust as guardian of
Mary A. Dover, minor heir of Samuel P. H. Park.
So Angeline and Samuel must have had two children, David and Mary A. Since
no children are found in the 1860 census and Samuel died in 1862, she must
have been very fertile. But the question remains as to why as of 1866 she
only named David for the minor for Samuel's pension.
According to 1900 Census for David M. Stucky
Smith Township, Greene County, Indiana
dwelling 41 family 42

Grace 1878 22 IN IN IN
? 1882 18 IN IN IN (son, can't make out the name)
Edward 1884 16 IN IN IN
So David M. remarried about 1874 to Mary M. ? who was born 1847. I don't
know what happened to Angeline.
So this is why I wondered if there was a connection between Bartholomew
Ellensworth and Stucky and there appears to be, thanks to you. Nellie
Ellensworth Stewart must have married David M.'s father right after the 1850
census. She must have died and hence the father married Mary ? who was born
1806.
I welcome any comments and I'm sending this to the Board for further imput.
Thanks
