THE BLOOMFIELD DEMOCRAT, Bloomfield, Greene County, Indiana, Tuesday, July 10, 1910,
Volume LVI, Number 57, Page 1, Columns 5, “OBITUARY. FLORY.” [Transcribed 30 April 2002
from Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library’s IHS Microfilm Records.]
John M. FLORY, son of Noah and Maria FLORY, was born April 7, 1850 and departed this life
July 1, 1917, age sixty-seven years, two months and twenty-three days.
He was married three times, the first to Mary NEIDIGH, who preceded him to the better
world. To this union was born one child, Leta Bell. Later he and Mary Ann QUAKENBUSH were
united in marriage. Two children being born to this union, Zella and a daughter who died
in infancy. This wife preceded him to the grave. Later he was married to Ida NULL. To
this union were born three sons, John Troy, and two sons who died in infancy.
He united with the church at Bethel about thirty-five years ago and from that time did his
utmost to do what was right. He was a loving husband and father , although he stayed with
us many years it pained our hearts to part with him. He was always so kind and
affectionate to everyone, having a smile for whomsoever he met, and always some
encouraging words. He was especially kind to children in whom he took a great interest.
We well know he can never come back to us but we are greatly consoled in that some day we
can go to him, and surely it is our aim to do so. He leaves a wife, three children, John
Troy, Mrs. Steve BLAKER and Mrs. Harley MAY, a mother, three sisters, four brothers and
sixteen grandchildren, besides a host of friends and relatives to mourn his loss.
He will sadly missed by the people of this community and not only this, for he was known
far and wide. The funeral was held Tuesday, July 3, at Tulip church by Rev. DUSTIN and
Mrs. KOMP, after which the remains were laid to rest in Tulip Cemetery.
